Our PE days

This term, Class CP has PE on

Mondays and Thursdays.

You will need to wear your Moon's Moat PE kit to school on these days. This can either be the new kit from our uniform suppliers, Mapac, with the school logo on or a plain white t-shirt and navy or black shorts/joggers and a navy or school jumper/hoodie. Earrings must be removed for safety and long hair tied up.

We are aiming to develop a love of reading in Year 3. Reading is the key to unlock learning in all subjects. Also, it's an escape from screens to a world of pure imagination. You are never lonely if you have a good book!

Your child will bring home a school reading book which is matched to their reading level based on regular assessments. However, there are many different types of reading material available. Any reading that your child does with you or another family member, please record in their Home School Link Book. This could include comics, magazines, newspapers, stories you have at home, information books about different topics and many others. We will celebrate reading done at home each week.

Reading websites we have been recommended:

Every week we send home 8 spellings for you to practise. 5 of these follow a phonic pattern or spelling rule. The rest are helpful or common exception words. Instead of a weekly test, we will be learning and practising these daily in school.

Click on your group to view and download your spellings.

Here is an example of this week's volcano model. The large piece is folded inwards and the small piece is folded outwards and slots into the gap! It's not obvious until you have a play with it! I have shown the children this afternoon but any problems, please see me!

Times tables will be learnt and practised during mental maths lessons. Twice a week we will do our Club Maths assessments and your child will bring their answer sheets home. Please look at these with your child and practise the facts they find tricky. Look for patterns, easy questions they missed and duplicate answers i.e. 2x5 and 5x2.
