In Geography we are exploring our place in the world and our local area. In science lessons we are learning about animals including humans, looking at the role of our skeleton, organs and joints. In addition, we are exploring the importance of a balanced diet, which will support our learning in DT, where are carrying out an exciting pizza project!
Our PE days
Class 3S have PE on Monday and Tuesday.
Class 3G have PE on Monday and Wednesday.
The children need to wear Moon's Moat PE kit to school on these days. This can either be a white t-shirt with the school logo on or a plain white t-shirt and navy or black shorts/joggers and a navy or school jumper/hoodie. Earrings must be removed for safety and long hair tied up.

Reading
We are aiming to develop a love of reading in Year 3. Reading is the key to unlock learning in all subjects.

Reading books will be changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We ask that you aim to read with your child at least four times a week. Your child will bring home a school reading book which is matched to their reading level based on regular assessments. However, there are many different types of reading material available. Any reading that your child does with you or another family member, please record in their Home School Link Book. This could include comics, magazines, newspapers, stories you have at home, information books about different topics and many others. We will celebrate reading done at home each week.
Take a look at our Reading for Pleasure webpage for ideas on how to develop your child’s love of reading and suggestions for books to read together. Click here.

Every Friday, the children will be given a set of spellings to learn ready for the following Friday. We encourage the children to use the look, say, cover, write and check method. Please make sure spelling books are in school on Friday.
For a useful website for practising spellings, click on the link below. Look for the spelling pattern in your group of words. |
Times tables will be learnt and practised during mental maths lessons. Once a week we will do our Club Maths assessments and your child will bring their answer sheets home. Please look at these with your child and practise the facts they find tricky. Look for patterns, easy questions they missed and duplicate answers i.e. 2x5 and 5x2.
